  • In the warmer months, lighten up your makeup routine. Try using a tinted moisturizer with just a little mascara and some lip gloss for a summery look.

  • In general, when you wear a strong lip color, it's best to keep the rest of the face soft.

  • To keep dark lipstick from bleeding, apply powder to a small brush and stroke around the outside of the lips after you've applied your lipstick.

  • If your foundation feels too heavy, blend it with a drop of moisturizer before applying to make it sheerer.

  • Dot brown eyeliner pencil in the gaps in between your eyelashes. It’s more natural looking than a thick stripe of black eyeliner and it makes the lashes look fuller.

  • Don’t just apply concealer right under your eyes. Dab a little onto the area between the inner corners of your eyes and the bridge of your nose. That spot can be the darkest and most blue looking, so if you don’t conceal that, you’ll still have that tired look.

  • The best time to determine which color blush best suits your complexion is to have a look at your flushed cheeks after a shower or workout. The natural flush is the best shade for you. Apply blush only to the apples of your cheeks for that natural look.

  • For aging skin, remember less is better. Makeup tends to slide into and accentuate lines and furrows.

  • Don’t pump your mascara wand in and out of the tube. Doing so only lets air in the tube which will dry out your mascara prematurely.
